Last week i saw there were 40,000 pages of my web site indexded in yahoo.But today it is just 2,000, How this can happen?

There are a good number of reasons why that happened. Do you have 40,000 pages with unique content, therefore, no duplicated?

Yes you are ryte..My yahoo index came down for 2000 from 40,000
