Yahoo focuses more on on-page optimization than Google does. It seems to be similar to MSN. But, really, if you optimize for Google, you'll probably do well in the other SEs, as long as you also do some on-page optimization.

ranking factor in yahoo

The title can be the biggest ranking factor of yahoos ranking algorithm. The title of website must contain your major keywords. The description you give when submitting to yahoo web direcotry should include your major keywords, but do not try to repeat these too much.

Click popularity is also part of yahoo algorithm. The more visitors click on your website from yahoo serp the more you will get close to top ranking.

The category you are listed in Yahoo Web Directory should (if possible) contain some keywords. This plays a little with the ranking.

Site-wide linking. Its a choice you have to make, you can get one link per domain in order to rank well on google search engine but you can also get a lot of site-wide linking from other site, Yahoo loves it.

This is at least "interesting" for me. If what you say is true ( thought I do remember some debating on this from some time ago and the consensus was that a listing into Yahoo!'s directory do not help your organic rankings ) then it can be "translated" that you can buy better spots in Yahoo!'s SERPs with a payed listing in their directory.

TIME/AGE

I find it not very professional to rely on time only, but have a site that was not changed much and don't think that he got much backlinks. But the site is pretty old (3-4 years if my memory is not failing me) - and this is enough to have modest positions on the keywords it was built for.

So, add this factor to the pile as well.

backlink, backlinks, backlinks for Yahoo. And it's slower at re-ranking than M or G.

I think Quality back links are the best factor for all search engines.
