Submitting XML Sitemap to Yahoo

May be a silly question but if I create an xml sitemap on a website and name it "sitemap.xml", will this be sufficient for all SE's?

With the software im using to generate a sitemap, it gives the option for a google sitemap and yahoo sitemap. I've only done the google sitemap and put it in the root directory. I just dont know if I need to do something else for the other SE's. Any advice?

For google, you must add sitemap.xml into your root directory in order for your sitemap to be indexed. Does Yahoo require something similar with the urllist.txt? Do i need to create a Yahoo txt sitemap and add urllist.txt to my root directory?

How else do you submit a sitemap to Yahoo?

First this reg with yahoo siteexplor (like google webmaster tool)
https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/mysites
then Valide your site with yahoo site explor
then "Manage" you valide site and got to "Feeds"

Now just add your sitemap URL (it dont matter what directory it's in or it's name) as long as it's a valide TXT yahoo sitemap feed.

According to yahoo..

Quote:
A text file containing a list of URLs, each URL at the start of a new line. The filename of the URL list file must be urllist.txt; for a compressed file the name must be urllist.txt.gz.

Facebook
From what I understand, Yahoo! uses urllist.txt files.

I make both an XML Sitemap and a urllist.txt

Yes Upload file name urllist.txt at Root containing all the URLs of site listed on any kind of notepad file...Yahoo will crawl this text sitemap.

I also read that Yahoo also supports the xml sitemap. But it's worth trying to submit an urlist.txt I created since I read this thread.
I have been reorganizing the structure of my site and move most directories to the root. But Yahoo still contains links that do not exist anymore for more than a year. Google follows the rules and updates links according to 301 and Robots.txt, but most other search engines do not respect them or it seems to me.

Send a message via Yahoo to FnatiK
OK, so you created a sitemap for Google(sitemap.xml), i suggest you to validate it at : validome.org/google/

Now there are 3 ways to go:
1) You create the urllist.txt(yahoo) and submit it to yahoo.
2) As yahoo ACCEPTS sitemap.xml(the same as Google) you can submit it to yahoo
3) Submit both the urllist.txt and the sitemap.xml to yahoo

Eighter way is correct

PS: forgive my English...
