is SEO possible for Y! ?
does anybody really knows how SEO works concerning Yahoo?
I can see the effect on my google ranking after I make changes to my pages.
With Yahoo I noticed the following.
1) My ranking used to be very poor. But I'm no where to be found after I added meta tags. Why?
2) Yahoo slowly but surely drops my pages from it's cache. Why?
3) Yahoo crawls my site regular but the pages that are cached are not updated. Why?

Yahoo is quite slow to update, and is one of the search engines that still likes a bit of keyword density.
Could even be that by adding extra code to your pages (the metas - which should be very focused and concise to be useful at all) you diluted the keywords per total code ratio. Don't get me wrong: this last bit is speculation.
Dropping pages seems quite serious though. Are you sure you have enough backlinks* and are not doing anything obviously sneaky?
* to all who read this: yes, Y! is about backlinks just like any other major SE...

Well, doing a site: search for your domain on Yahoo! I only find a couple of pages without a cache, and a couple of others without a title.
Can't find anything sneaky either, so I'll take your word for it there is none
I also tried one of the pages' url (one without a title) on copyscape to see if it was considered a (near-)duplicate - but nope. No problem.
In short I'm puzzled. Hope that one of the Yahoo specialists here will chime in....

edit:
one of the not-cached pages DID produce something on copyscape.com
Try it for yourself. Not sure if that's it, but it can't hurt to make your pages so unique that copyscape isn't triggered. (Note the copies come from other domains' pages, not yours)

Reason: more copyscape stuff

I'm not a Yahoo expert by any means, I just have a lot of sites that I watch in Yahoo listings.
But IMHO Yahoo got overzealous recently. Just remember "the devil is in the details". Just keep building your site with honesty, like you already are, and Yahoo will replace your pages. In fact, go to those pages that got dropped and add some text or make minor changes, but don't get overly worried about it.
Think of Yahoo like a woman, if you try too hard to figure her out you are going to give yourself an ulcer.

I don't know what yahoo bot does but it rarely visits my site.
I get Google several times a day, msn on and off several times a day, I got hit by Jeeves bot so hard at the beginning of this week that it was crashing my site and I have banned it, yet Yahoo doesn't like me.

My exp with Yahoo is if you keyword a page just for that keyword and stuff the living life out of that page with the keyword you will rank well.
Im a Google and MSN man myself, but everything my wife makes gets good ranking in Yahoo and she is heavy on the keywords and very low on link building.

Duplicate content - questions
I have a website that uses news from a newsource - so my news pages are duplicates of other sites with the same news.
News makes up about 80% of my content - current info on my product.
Thoughts? I can dump the news and do my own content - I'm trying to get going on the search engines - thanks - John
