While I agree that time should not be wasted worrying about Yahoo, Bing/Yahoo both pay attention to on-page attributes. Your title tags, header tags, content (not stuffing keywords), internal links, etc. Where Google places a strong emphasis on content and links (that may be reversed depending on who you ask), Bing/Yahoo do not rank websites with nearly as much emphasis on links.
There are more things to it but this should get you started.

It's been centuries I looked at ranks on google or bing... okay, maybe just years... Even being #1 on there, you almost always get imperceptible traffic compared to the same on google...

Hi this is my first contribution!
What I would like to say is that yep, I got to agree with DarrenHaye. I got penalized by Google back in spring and for a while my only traffic came from Yahoo, and Bing for that matter.
Think I got some from Squidoo and Blogger, not a lot.
Traffic was down over 75% for the next 6 weeks until I got things sorted with Google.
Not one single tiny sale. Its about sheer numbers in terms of traffic.
So concentrate on Google and get a top 3 spot, #1 would do nicely!

You must concentrate on increasing your rank on google. Google gives more emphasis on the content of the page and the links it has, these maybe internal links or external links.

Yahoo and bing still have more than 20% of market and I don't think that this is the small amount of market.

To optimize the website on yahoo and bing you need to focus on on page. As you know google will not give much preference to meta keywords but both these search engine give the preference to meta keywords, So always use it. They also need the keywords in your content.

Oh ya....
In US itself Google leads the way with 65.5% share of the market place, followed by Yahoo (15.9%), Microsoft (14.1%), Ask (2.9%) and AOL (1.5%). While in japan Yahoo capture the market of near about 50%. I think this is sufficient else check

I disagree with Google rankings automatically delivering good positions in Yahoo based on a friend's experience.
Said person ranks very well in Google and is nowhere to be found in Yahoo or Bing. Their pages rank in Y & B but very deep into the results. One thing I noticed is that they do not have meta descriptions and keywords for their pages. Being that Y & B pay attention to on-page attributes, I feel this is why they don't rank well.
