Basic Yahoo SEO Info
Hi, guys.
This is my first post at this forum.
I would like to find some reliable and trustworthy information about SEO techniques applicable for Yahoo search engines, i.e. current keyword density percentages, HTML layout, internal link structure and so on. As for me, Yahoo is somewhat different from Google, and if I have good exposure on Google, it is not necessarily means the same at Yahoo.
Thus, please advise!

By the way, I do not agree with doing "spamming" in order to placement. Just that Yahoo is far more tolerant of spamming than Google seems to be. Just thought I should clear that up before anybody mentions anything on that

In everything I have seen Yahoo brings a very small percentage of traffic. I optimize for Google and I find that when Yahoo does finally update their SERPs I do better in theirs than Google. On Page optimization is always important so although Yahoo puts more of an emphasis on it, you should be working on it no matter what engine you are targeting. I wouldn't get spammy with the keywords as any benefit you gain in Yahoo, you will lose 10 fold in Google. Write NATURAL content and Yahoo will appreciate it.
My main question would usually be why are you targeting Yahoo specifically?

Well, Google brings to me 90% of entire traffic. This number is very substantial and formidable at the same time. Since I am involved in the online business, I do not want to rely heavily only on this SE. Yahoo claimed that they bring 40% share of traffic for US customers, so why can't we just give it a try? What are nuances of optimization for Yahoo? Can someone give referencies to online literature and more specific information?

Yahoo Tips
Like Kasparoff, I also want to improve my raninks in Yahoo!. Indeed, Google is the main source
for my traffic today, but I believe I can benefit a lot from Yahoo! So, what do you folks think on optimization
for Yahoo? I mean, what is it "onpage factors" - what keyword density you can recommend on for Yahoo! as
opposed to Google? should I optimize my meta tags? and does Yahoo like outgoing links from a page?
Thanks a lot, too!

Basic Tips
As far as my knowledge is concern Google is one of the best Search Engine and next is Yahoo.
The simple tips for Yahoo is that write your site title as close to as your keywords, it means create a title which include at least 2 to 3 keywords. When you search with keywords in yahoo, the result show the result in which top sites have those keywords in their title. So it will work for your site also?
May be I am wronge in some cases but in general it will help your site shows good result in yahoo search engine.

Slick link eclipse. Tried that a few weeks ago. Changed all the classes over to just straight headings. Seems to work pretty well. Mentions the ALT's but title is good too. Anyone noticed a difference using both on linked images? Primary phrase in the alt and secondary in the title?

Backlinks In Yahoo
Thanks again. I understand about the onpage factors, but what influence do you think backlinks have in yahoo?
Can you rank high with no backlinks at all or is it like Google where it is a crucial factor?
BTW, you are more than right about the whole onpage factors importance - many spammy site do rank well
(many #1's and #2's) and they are nothing but total spam. kinda strange, no?
advanced ranking algorithm brings so much spam...

I agree Jason
We still do the "free" directory inclusion and if (and after) we do well in Google, we also do well in Yahoo and a lot of times, better.
We try to model our on page keyword density after the leaders in our given category.
