#1 ranking - zero content, what gives
I own a domain that I have left dormant for awhile (I have had it for approx 1 year). The HP url has a PR3. 1 week ago I decided to run a SEO test for fun. I started to work on a mini site about Chocolate Labs. I created one page for history of the breed. I also set up a title and meta tags on the PR3 page I had lying around. I did not link to the history page, It was literally a blank page with only meta tags and title, thats it.
Go to yahoo and search for history of chocolate labs I am #1. Look at the cached version! Yahoo is looney. They put me at #1 with zero content! Granted it is not a tough term to rank for, but it came back with 100K+ matches. There is a link on that page now to the blog I started today. This ranking does not have to do with the blog at all (which the cache version attests to). What does this tell us? |

Tells us that there is no real competition of any substance for those keywords.
If you look at the sites around you it will show you that. I saw a few on freespace that looked like old ladys had built. |

Yeah I guess you are right, which is not suprising. Still seems odd that zero content can get you #1 for anything over anyone with any sort of content.
