    WordPress Title Tag Issue

Trying to help a client with their SEO, and I gave them a bunch of recommended Title Tags. However, all of the Title Tags for every page automatically as a - at the end? Can't figure out how to remove it?

I think what happens is that wordpress would like the title to add the site name eg : "my fantastic page title - My sitename" . but it can not find the site title (I think it's not set in the back end)

I would need more info on the plugins you are using before telling you to modify your wordpress themes and / or core files, most of the time there is an option to remove site name from the title tag in the plugin parameters.

    Edit:

Just seen your other thread so I guess you are using yoast.

If this is the case, just head up to post types and check what is filled in the "posts" and "pages" templates to remove the sitename you need to remove %%sitename%% this should remove the -, if not make sure there is no - after %%title%%
Hope this was clear and it will help you out.

Thanks, Pierre! Do you think you could break down for me a little more, or even show me a screen shot? Can't find what you're asking...I'm not very savvy with WP. Thanks!

Hi sorry for the late reply, but I had a lot to do yesterday,

You will find all the info needed on this page https://kb.yoast.com/kb/yoast-wordpr...ate-variables/

But to access that menu you need to click SEO (in the left menu of the back end) then click on "titles and metas"

Home page is managed separately in the first tab, for pages and posts you have to click on the post type tab

    Hope this helps

I have run into this before, but I think Pierre's fix should be the solution. I personally prefer to use the SEO Ultimate plugin and haven't had this issue with it.
