    Nav question

    Hello,

This may sound like a dumb question, so excuse me if it is.

In regards to a navigation link menu that can be read by search engines, is there a way to make one, that can dynamicaly be done at once on all pages.

The reason I ask this is, im using site builder now thru yahoo, and it has a nav system that can be automaticaly distributed or altered at one time and applied to all pages. The system as of now is only in jpg, so its unreadable to the engines. My thought was, if the same thing can be done, yet in a text base or whatever, that can be globaly added throught all pages. Like calling it up, and thru code inserted on all pages.

Its hard to explain. I hope I made sense.....

Anyways, if anyone has any ideas on this, or if even possible please let me know..

    Thank you

This is relatively easy to do, depending on the software you're using to build your site, and on your server type and what it can do.

If you're using something like Dreamweaver then all you need to do is set up templates and they'll update all of the pages automatically. That's the easy way out.

Apart from that if your server supports SSI (Server Side Includes) then you can work out a standard navigation area in a HTML page and call a HTML include function to include the navigation on each page. That way you update one page, and they'll all be changed.

Hope this has helped a bit.

Similarly to SSI (server side includes), you can also use php includes
To use SSI, the extension on pages have to be shtml or shtm and php for php includes

You can use SSI with html pages by putting the following in your .htaccess file:

    AddType text/html .html
    AddHandler server-parsed .html
