Getting Google to spider phpBB forums

We've got a site with a Google PR of 7. The forum, however, which is linked from multiple pages (over 1000) including the homepage, just doesn't seem to get much spidering. We've removed session IDs as we've been led to believe this can inhibit spidering. However, it doesn't appear to have made much difference as yet... any other tips, folks?

I have a friend that has several forums .. I heard from him that it's pretty
hard to optimise forums for google ? Are there any rules on the web about that ?

    Thanks

Here's a link to the MODs that I've previously used.

Google seems to be loving them, now I only need people to actually join (and post in) my forum !

    Hi Aaron,

It does take some more work, but in a few hours you could edit the php script to use very nice URLs. Also nice most webbrowsers are using cookies, you could always review the need for session id.

you don't need to remove the SIDs entirely actually, you can do it based on the IP or the way the browser idents, so they're only off for google (or other bots)

I'll second this one! I did this mod just recently, and my forum is now in Google.

An SID is a Session ID, a string of 32 alphanumeric characters used to uniquely identify a session. It is what ties successive page accesses together as one session. It can be placed in a GET variable (potential problems for search engine because it is in the URL) or it can be a SESSION variable (it can also be a POST variable too, but that's impractical for pages that don't use forms). Different software uses different methods. When PHP can't put it in a SESSION variable, it generally puts it in a GET variable (unless a programmer has put it in a GET variable to begin with). I think putting it in a GET variable is the most robust solution (works almost anywhere), but not good for SEO.
