free yahoo directory listing

lots of talk lately about the dmoz editors and url processing...
does anyone have a handle on the processing of submissions for a free listing [an organization site] in the yahoo directory?
whats the wait time?
recommendations about RE-submitting?
[that kind of inside track info]
thanks!

I know I have read on a few blogs recently that they have got accepted free. One of the blogs only had 4 weeks of archives when they were posting about how yahoo accepted them so I would say they are sometimes really snappy about it.

I think right now there is probably a push going on to try to offset some of the "Yahoo! is a greedy piece of crap company" outlash that occured when they announced their Site Match program.

I submitted a photo blog (quite new granted) to the Yahoo directory about 2 weeks ago, yesterday I got very nice email from the Yahoo Directory people that I was accepted for free!! Yippee!

Anyhow, I recommend a few other people try this, but they are having a hard time getting sites listed that are non-informational in content, and more business related. Seems they are stressing unique content or something that makes the site shine.

I think I can point out from good experience in this area. The Yahoo people really like it when you write very good descriptions for your submissions, as well as the correct category for submission. If you can make sure to get everything right, slip in some keyphrases, and cross your fingers its not to hard to get in and avoid the fees.

irka-seo agrees: You got a point when saying people try to have their site listed with non-informational content.

1 1/2 for me.

Took me about a 1-1/2 year wait but at least I didnt have to pay for the listing.

:-) :-) Make that another site that got in for free. It was a blog website that was relatively new as well. It took an average time of 4 days for the acceptance letter to come in. Pretty nice, and the fastest I have ever seen.

We find that with most of these things nothing beats having a link off a well ranked site that is already listed.

My last submission took about 1 week to be included.

I think it does depend on the category of your site, since some other of my sites took several month to be included.

Man, someone really had to dig to find this post.

I hope that everyone that tries to get into Yahoo Directory for free does, but if not it is worth it to pay for it.
