The Key to High Rankings in Google (1000'th Post)
Ok. So you guys know that I"m normally a carefree joker and this post probably won't differ too much. It will, however, be a bit longer than my usual posts.
The first thing I'd like to say is thanks to all the folks who make this forum great. That's why I keep coming back and sharing info. The tests you run in the interests of science and then share with us helps us all have better rankings. For the newbies and/or the lurkers, keep reading - you'll find some great info here. I would warn you, however, to not believe everything you read. Some of it is true and some of it is total crap So what is the key to high rankings in Google? Persistence and Dedication. That's right, I'm not going to talk about backlinks, content or any of the other things that people normally mention. I've seen a lot of people come to the forums, make one post and then disappear never to be seen again. I often wonder what happened to those folks and if they're successful in their ventures. You see, you've got to be persistent with Google because, chances are, you're not going to rank well on your first attempt. Heck, you might not even get it down on your 50th attempt. There are pros here who still have challenges getting some of their sites ranked for competitive terms. And it's going to take dedication. Why? Well, as someone recently put it, business (and I do hope you treat this like a business) is like a flower - you're either growing or you're dying. You've got to dedicate yourself to the task at hand. Focus on the top 20% of the stuff that will make you money. The other 80% of stuff probably is filler and busywork If you're persistent and dedicated, you'll do what's required to make your site(s) succeed whether it's a black hat site or a white hat site. Hats of all colors can win here! Good luck and thanks for reading. G-Man

Persistence and Dedication. You said it.
When i joined this forum 3 month ago, cause of poor ranking of my new site, i had no idea that this would be an adventure into the SEO world. My site now ranks and im making money. Now i can even sell seo on my site too. You were one of the guys who told me what to do....Not directly, but with some of your great posts. And these posts give me reasons to return again and again. Just wanna thank you. Last edited by squize : June 30th, 2005 at 06:17 PM. Reason: LOL - Bad spelling |

OK, now I feel obliged to respond...
Yes, I've been visiting for a couple of years now but expect like many others, don't feel I know enough to contribute much. I do, however, pipe-up if I think I can help but there are so many webmasters who seem to live in the forum that by the time I get to the juicy threads... all I have to offer is waffle... ah... just like this So:- G-man... I agree 1. Don't get complacent. The flower analogy is good... your site may appear to be doing well but what goes up usually comes down. If you can think of a way to improve your site - do it. If not then build another site. 2. Don't put all your eggs in one basket (or one search engine) - to make a living that means you can sleep at night you need more than one site and site-generated incomes from more than one search engine (We had several sites doing well in google... then they changed the algo - thank God for MSN and Yahoo - I never thought I would EVER say that!) 3. Don't plagiarize, use unique content (and I don't mean 10,000 words of waffle), plenty of links; inbound and internal, keep updating/adding. 4. Don't target competative terms straight away... you'll just get demoralised. 5. Read forums like this and offer anything you learn - don't think your giving away any trade secrets... the black-belts in here already know most of what you discover BUT if you discover something new pass it up the line - they'll add it to what they've got and give it back to you ten fold. Cheers guys JP |
