Any new ways to attract Mr.Jeeves

Most of my sites are not being visited by askjeeves and teoma. Is there any new ways to make them index pages?

what do you mean by 'waste of bandwidth' Do you mean its waste of time to try optimizing for askjeeves?

Exactly... optimize for Google, Yahoo, and MSN. They cover almost 90% of the search traffic.

Personally, I like AJ/Teoma a lot and I know plenty of people who use them. Depending on what you're optimizing for, they can be a very smart play to go after - e.g. anything dealing with publishing (lots of folks in the literary world use them), Canadians and Brits do too.

The best way is to get links from sites that rank highly across a wide variety of searches in AJ/Teoma - this is your best bet, as these will be the sites they are spidering more frequently.

What else can we do to get top ranking on AJ?

I have a satellite radio website, which people often search for "what is satellite radio?" and "how does satellite radio work?".

I have created a few pages (which some may consider doorway pages) that target these specific types of Questions. I get visited about every other day simply because my keywords are literally a string of questions.

I am not sure why this works, I kind of fell on it by accident, but it does work for getting spidered to use Questions as keywords.

Like SEO_AM an others have said, its only a small fraction of traffic, I get maybe 3-4 visitors a day from Jeeves. It isn't really worth your time. Stick to highly searched keywords (you can find these on WordTracker).

my sites are in dmoz. does teoma update from them?

First we need to discuss just how big the internet is abstract documents tells just how big the internet is or could be and also how big search engines are and how much of this vast world of information is covered.The studies done in 1997 and 1998 respectively were much smaller in their scale. The first in 1997 was around 200 million pages and 1998 was around 800 million pages. Not even close anymore. The current study estimates around 11.5 billion pages.
Break It Down

One point they do mention is that the search engines underestimate their own coverage areas. Google, the largest engine claims to cover 8.1 billion pages, the abstract says 8.8 billion pages at a coverage rate of 76.2%. They were closest to their estimate of coverage area.

Yahoo ranked second and they severely underestimated their coverage rate. Yahoo estimates coverage of 4.2 billion and were closer to 8 billion or a 69.3% coverage area.

MSN claimed it covered 5 billion pages and the study showed 7.1 billion or 61.9% coverage. This is their beta too. They could give Google a run in the future.

Ask Jeeves/Teoma ranked 4th, estimating 2.5 billion covered and the study said 6.6 billion or 57.6%. The indexed web hit about 9.4 billion or 81.4%

All those sights are pointless if they don't give good, reliable information.

Also don't forget it depends on region. In Europe Ask brings in some respectable numbers. They are my #3 referrer nudging out the "new" MSN

how often does teoma update from them?

I get ok (no good, just ok) traffic from AJ, but only for non technical stuff...

Also I find that my click thru rates for adsense and affiliate links goes UP when I get more Yahoo! and AskJeeves traffic. I gues the users are less internet savvy and therefore welcome my links and ads with open arms!

Do make an effort to attract AJ, I found that directory listings and FFA (YES! I said FFA) links gets Jeeves running to my sites in no time... often same day!

BE WARNED! Jeeves will go through your entire site, a few times, and eat up bandwidth like it's going out of style!
