Pr10
Anyone run into http://www.pr10.darkseoteam.com/ yet?
[sarcasm]Shows you how important PR really is[/sarcasm] ;) Interesting no? Thanks to Googleblogoscoped for pointing this out. |

seems to me like those PRs are of the "house of cards" variety (fleeting).
In other words, their not real PRs, and they will probably go away soon. Why do I suspect that? Because the homepage of their site (http://www.darkseoteam.com/) is only a PR 4. If they really knew how to manipulate PR on a consistent basis and maintain their "manipulated" PR rankings, I doubt that their homepage would be a PR 4.

Hugo,
Your "Forums" link gets a: Not Found The requested URL /forum was not found on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. Apache/1.3.33 Server at www.seoproject.com Port 80 And this page is acting a bit funky http://www.redlineseo.com/links/consumerresources.htm |

Fooling the bots
Its quite an old trick. You redirect GB to google.com. Once you get PR10 you remove the redirect and put you page up. Looks impressive with a full green bar in the PR indicator. However does nothing for rankings. It used to get dropped quickly, when PR used to change frequently

Yeah, we had a major server failure this week that affected all 20+ sites that we manage. We're still not back online completely. We've been down since early Sunday morning. We're looking into filing suit against our hosting providers. Anyone here well versed on legal issues concerning downtime on servers, etc... |

Yeah I know it's a redirect ;) Just funny bevcause no one can ever know for sure if the PR is really what the greenbar says it is

Let me guess. You run phpBB. If so I dont think you can sue your hosting provider considering it's not his fault but a worm that targets phpBB boards. If they arent phpBB than ignore me. |

Also, if you use cloaking you can simply show the redirect only to Googlebot, not to users. This way, you don't need to remove the redirect. |

No this was much worse (we don't use phpBB). Our hosting provider had a complete failure at their data center. I've never experienced a failure of this magnitude. We've been having glitches and down time since Sunday! |

the mistake was on our part (for not properly backing things up on our end). there's no excuse. If we had properly backup our files, we would already be up and running. As it is, our site(s) data is incomplete. We have to wait until are existing host's server becomes stable.
However, the cause for the failure and the manner in which our hosting company prepared (or didn't prepare) for such an event is unacceptable. I'm not too worried though. We should be chugging along smoothly soon enough. The key is to not let this happen again. |

Thank you for the kind regards!
This is just another example of how life treats you like a trampoline would (up and down). The PR update occured on Jan 1st (we got our first set of PR 7s) then the next day are server goes to crap... reminds me of a Paul Simon lyric on "Graceland". |

this flaw has been around for a long time. i found it out quite accidentally. it still astonishes me that people are so preoccupied with something so easy to manipulate. |
