"Sponsored Links" link??
Anyone see a link at the bottom of adwords on google.com that lets you just look at adwords ads instead of organic results? It even allows you to search adwords ads!!
Here is an example: http://www.google.com/sponsoredlinks?q=canada+travel&hl=en&lr=&newwindow=1&c2coff=1&safe=off&sa=N&tab=wa&start=9 Is this new or am I just not looking close enough lately? |

PK... where are you seeing that link? I have not seen anything like that at the bottom of any of their Adwords. Maybe they have just started it on some of the the dc's. New to me.

PK... first time I have seen it. G is looking for better ways to push Adword results. I don't believe it will be very effective, but it shows their mindset: paid results.

I caught it also, PK...I guess for sites with more than 10 ppc per topic. Still pretty obscure within the page. Nothing like Jeeves...which is paid advertising with a search underneath it.
I think we shall see over time. Advertising revenues are far and away the dominant form of income for Google. I guess we will see what they do over time. I still believe their advertising is more distinct from search than that at Yahoo, MSN, and Jeeves. |

Google's about relevance. Often Sponsored links are more relevant than the "organic". As surfers recognize this, their searching experience will improve. Google offering the Sponsored Link Search could be a good move IMHO.
For Adwords newbies & oldies in competitive markets this is good news. An opportunity to get some clicks and improve position. For those that have the top positions... you better get more relevant ... |

I'd have to disagree because anyone can target any page for any keyword. Why do you think Geico is sued Google?? Because insurance agencies that weren't Geico were still targetting the keyword "Geico". Only way Google can make AdWords more relevant is to scan the submitted page for the keywords someone is targetting and check for relevancy. Edit: Also the only reason they are relevant is because no one abuses the system. Remember you do have to pay for each click and if you send a user to an irrelevant page than they just dropout and you wont make back your investment. |

OK, scratch "often" and input "sometimes"... Still good to have the option. There are 5 trillion keyword combinations, "sometimes" Sponsered will be better than "Organic"... in a few tiny cases... but as time goes on, I suspect Google will get better at the "Organic" and then my statement will become 100% false.

Hmmm.. this tool never returns anything more than 2 pages. Do they truncate the results? Or are there no more than 20 ads for any term I could think of?

That tool is setup to attract advertisers. Basically saying "Hey look there are only these guys you have to battle, I wont be that hard" so it's smart on Google to only show a handful of them. I know because I do the same thing on my site and it works. You show an advertiser a sample of the competition they are up against and they'll bit if they like what they see. |

Wow that is pretty funny, I wonder how much its gonna cost when google is selling placement in their search results. Its funny once a company goes public they start to do stupid things. I wish I heard even 10 minutes of a conversation at google regarding their PPC distrubution and its affects on organic results.
