Google Directory PR Update
I just noticed that we had a Google Directory PR update. My site's PR decreased considerably- even though I just gained many links. This must mean that toolbar Pagerank was rescaled.

Anyone else notice this?

Yes, you are right the PR seems to be updated in directory. Our site has climbed up several notches with this update However the toolbar is still reflecting the old PR on the index page.

My site gained one notch and many places. We had the equiv of a 4/8 (22 pixels) and now have a 5/8 (27 pixels). The PR update from two weeks ago showed us as still having PR4...

Good call Vetteman.

G-dir has changed for me too. Although the bar hasn't changed, I moved up in the list of "peers", and my main "competitor" is now last on the page {demonic laughter}.

Funny how G is hopping around: PR update, BL/related: update, reversal of BL/rel: update, G-dir PR update. Looks as if they're flushing old data... or teasing (again).

Yeah, it did update. Still this does nothing more than to emphasise the many contradictory things around google lately.
Shortly - my PR in the google dir - 7 (my site is nr 3 in its category) My toolbar PR - 2 (yea, two Nr. of links before the BL update - 74. Nr of links after - 59. Indexed pages - about 1200 (close to the real number of pages in my site) Yahoo BL (except for internal BL) - about 200, MSN BL - about 2000

I gave up on trying to understand any logic behind this and fell back on the old-fashioned marketing methods which seem to be working much better than google. At least for me.

It seems like there isn't too much order to this update. I have a toolbar PR4, yet there are several PR6's below me. Seems extremely inconsistent.

Does the update to their directory really matter?

If the PR ranking of some sites in the directory is suppose to be accurate,
then its garbage.

There is a site in my category that is second from the top, showing a PR6
in the directory, but only has a PR1 on their toolbar.

I'm seeing almost all my site down a chunk of green :-(

But i'm seeing other down a lot more... It look like PR 4 on the toolbar is showing a what was a Pr 2 to pr3 in the directory and the same upwards...

I just seen a PR6 showing as a PR3...
um....

must be something in it... ?

Is that site in another category as well? How about PR of that site with/without the www bit? I believe there are many possible reasons why dir. PR and toolbar PR don't match in some cases. Until we're all exhausted from looking for them, don't dismiss the value of the G directory's green bars just yet... ;)

They need to either

1 - Do a be a BIG update for the PR/BL of sites,
OR
2 - Stop some of the G engineers smoking the peace pipe for a couple of weeks

My category in Google Directory used to have 42 PR7's
39 of those are now PR6 or PR5...

Something has changed for sure!

My site went from #4 with PR7 to #6 with PR6.

oh man i'm glad i saw this thread...went from #10 (out of ten) to #2 but the Directory PR bars didn't change, we're all still the exact same (everyone in the catagory). however, actual PR's differ all the way from PR0 to PR7. how interesting.
