At least this update is showing a few more links that I've gained...of course not nearly all, but a bigger jump than the last one.

Also, mcdar's quick datacenter q-check shows the update has spread across a lot of the datacenters already.

I think I have about 1 more out of 40 or so back links showing, but it's a start!

50% increase in link:-found backlinks. It now shows about 15% of them instead of 10%. What could be the point? Is it a teaser or a (very small) gift?

Well, I have a site that currently shows 0 backlinks (one of those old site / sudden 0 backlinks showing for term link:www.site.com). The google IP above shows all sites recovered and of course, more.

Doesnt concern anyone else that google is doing updates on things (checksum, toolbar version, backlinks) and PR is not changing/updating

Still moving up in links thanks to forums, but I have noticed the same thing in the past couple updates, for some reason backlinks are only showing for bottom rung pages.
If I get a link on all pages of a forum, only the lowest PR pages are being displayed? Guess it's a way to weight 1000's of links from sames domain. But from the looks it may be an average of all the pages indexed by google. still this is a fast update? looks like backlinks will update fast and PR slow.

I think i dropped a couple, but seeing as Google's link: command is a joke i'm more concerned if i should
make a coffee or a cup of tea instead. Seriously Google, as a leading search engine the data you display and call a sites "backward links" is pathetic. |

I really don't understand why so much general interest for an event that doesn't give useful informations to SEO/webmasters nor affects positions.
First, new links affect sites positions after some days Google discover them. Second, links reported by the "link:" command are really pseudo-random and their presence in the list doesn't necessarily mean that they are taken in account in the ranking algorithm. For example, months ago, links coming from what Google considers "pages of links" were ignored by the search engine and didn't appear in the backlink list. Now, links coming from "pages of links" are still ignored by Google but they can appear in the backlink list. Backlink list means really nothing, now. Google simply choose a different subset of them every new links update. So in next updates you will see some links disappear and some links reappear. "link:" command is now a totally unreliable tool for SEOs: exactly what Google wants. |
