Official Gmail Notifier

Hate having to login to check to see if you have gmail? If you use a Windows PC, you no longer have to worry.

Official Gmail Notifier

Quote:
The Gmail Notifier is a downloadable Windows application that alerts you when you have new Gmail messages. It displays an icon in your system tray to let you know if you have unread Gmail messages, and shows you their subjects, senders and snippets, all without your having to open a web browser.

The Notifier is in beta. Before you download it, we encourage you to review the system requirements and privacy information.

Looks good

but after I installed it my Trojan spotter logged it as WebMailSpy spyware

but it might have been something else, so I'm not sure but perhaps....

dunno

(I was messing around with some other downloads at the same time)

(stupidly I pressed the kill button before checking for a false positive)

If it Anti-Virus type you are in trouble

if its heurestic or whatever how its spelt you are kind of OK...
..All it did was scan the file looking for library files is uses and certain commands. Simply ignore it.

Example: if it finds MSWinsockLib (can connect to the web) and SwapMouseButton (wonder what that does) in a file it will come up as trojan found. As a hacker (cracker) could be swapping your mouse buttons without your permission.

Dan

p.s. it does spy on webmail for YOU, but i guess NOT for other people, but the trojan scanner dont know that...

Thanks Dan,

I think you're right

but then you usually are

Everythings showing up clean now (spybot, hijackthis ads-aware) and a couple of virus scans...just wish I hadn't been so quick to hit the 'clean now' button before I could poke about

The Trojan was initially spotted by a piece of software from iolo, now, imho, they're okay at system tweaking but I'm not too convinced their trojan spotting is brilliant hence false positive.

Looks like it needs an operator install anyway xxxhttp://www.exploreanywhere.com/wms-intro.php (oh plus the fact that most of my emails are mind numbingly boring - lol)

Cheers
Spag
