Exclamation KW:"Online Casinos" Top3 PR: 5,6,0 ?? Unbelievable!
Check this out: do a google search for "online casinos". The PR of the top 3 sites are #1 PR 5, #2 PR6, #3 PR0 . PR0 !!!???? How is it possible that a site can be #3 for such a competitive KW phrase with PR 0? ??: Are they doing something to Google we don't know about? And how can a site be #2 with PR6 while #1 site is PR5? There are tons of "online casinos" sites with the same or higher PR that don't even crack the top 10!

Ok, maybe PR has lost some importance but this example is completely ridiculous! Can someone give me some advice on this one?

Their backlinks should be natural and themed, not reciprocal.
Topic sensitive PR is important, and we can not see it in our toolbars

The green PR bar that you see at the top of your browser does not carry half the weight it used to anymore. This topic has been discussed with some hardliner views and opinions in the last week. Do a search for some of the threads.

I share your shock! Site 3 only has 80+ backlinks! It looks like the Google processes aren't all that sincronized. These sites has more than Google shows at the moment, be patient it will show soon enough.

Unhappy It's surprising and frustrating
It's just surprising and frustrating to me how this site comes out of no where and takes a top 5 position... I have gaming clients and I have been working on their sites constantly trying to get into the top 50, and the site backlinks and pr are strong...I suppose this frustration is part of the SEO game... :-?

Wow, that's amazing. Those are very competitive keywords. How'd they do it with a PR0 site? I can only see 80+ backlinks but they are all from the same category.

what happened is this...that site was ruling the serps for the keyword "online casinos" for months a little while ago until they got banned from google...now for some reason google started liking their site again and so it currently shows in the serps...it just started happening a couple days ago...they are there not due to the backlinks but due to the good optimization...just as the same for the site that ranks 1 rite now....

Question banned for what?
Yes I noticed that this site got banned a month or two ago, but banned for what? Cloaking? I don't think so...I checked for that. ;) Over-optimizing? I don't think so either...their homepage is like any other "online casinos" homepage, and I can't find anything tricky going on. Their homepage optimization is basic, as far as I can see... :-|

It's interesting you (Sarsdoble) say they're ranked for just "optimization" not, back links...If this is true, why not just copy their page and change a couple of words around to make it your own?

They could of got banned for spamming.


Also, online casinos, like porn, are very frowned upon in the internet world. I'm sure Google doesn't like the neighbourhood anyways.

bpmee,
its interesting how many people are actually doing this..i've seen atleast 5 sites that have copied thir website and tried to work with those sites..the only reason why i thought that site got banned was becasue of cross linking..that person manages many different casino sites and all of them got banned at the same time(a month ago)...
but since its back within a few weeks after being banned, it shows that this site is not doing anythign wrong...
but i've come across some other casino portals like
www.777-best-online-casinos.com and www.onlinecasinosnetwork.com
which have had top 3 rankings for "online casinos" at one time and then they are also penalized..not banned..but the cause remains a mystery to me...i would love if someone has any comments on these 2 sites..you may pm me ..

Hi S, (for short, I don't want to misspell your name)

I too remember 777-best-online-casinos.com and online casinosnetwork.com . Check my PM to you.

These sites ruled the SERPS for a while. 777etc had a high PR and thousands of pages, while onlinecasinosnetwork.com was smaller and did a lot of homepage link exchanges with webmasters, as I recall receiving email from him/her....

My only thought on the PR 0 ranking #3 is that they have cracked the Google Algo...that's the only thing I can think of, because their PR and backlinks are so low that you wouldn't expect to see this site in the top 1000 for "online casinos".

What interest me is the fact that it seems like off-page factors are not that important for that keyword phrase. When you look at the on-page optimization there are certain factors that seem to correspond. e.g. Title tag and the H1 tag URL at the top of each page. Can it be that Google tweak their algo sometimes to rate off-page factors as important and then (like in this case) for on-page factors to be more important!

Seems that good old cloaking still works ....
(look at the cached verion of #3 ... exact copy of #1)
