No - that it may mean the end of Google

With all the bars they're going to have to jump over now to get more profit, can you imagine how commercialized Google may become!

Exclamation

I can't wait!!

Does anyone remember back when Andover (Now OSDN) IPOed and gave a insider buy option to selected members of the tech community?

Google has shown that they favor people they are in bed with (Blogger users getting first shot at Gmail, etc). I wonder if AdSense folks (the people bringing Google the mad bucks) will get a first shot at stocks?

well it usually goes underwriters, affiliates (parent stockholders, clients, etc), and then a tiny little bit for the public

I'd think this would be one of the last places you'd find people who are interested in investing in Google at the prices they are expecting for shares with an IPO.

Indeed, there is no way I'm buying shares of Google.

Valued at $20 billion it said somewhere. C'mon - they only made $107 million in profit last year - where is $20 billion coming from - or even $2.7 billion for that matter. - No Way

I will buy. Remember the AOL prices back in 99 and 2000? Up and up and then the crash. Jsut have to play it smart before the crash.....

Think about it, it would go under $40 IPO, if you can get it, or immediatley after the open, and by the end of the week, you will make between 5-20% at least on the stock. That = Mucho $

Valuations are set based upon analysts view of the future of any given stock, not on current day actitivity. However, the valuation should be steeped in a little of current day reality. I am afraid they are really reaching on this one. To reach a true valuation of $20 billion their annual revenue would have to reach $2 - $4 billion. I don't see that as likely. If you have a few bucks you will not mind losing, buy some shares. I will not be joining you. I can lose some money, yes, but not by betting blindly.
