    Thread started date display

Can I suggest that the code guys add a field at the top of thread lists to display the date the thread was started. (See image)

I learned today that not all threads that are displayed on the respective forum are current. I mistakenly posted in an old thread that was on the front page but I wouldn't have done so if there was such a field. It's easy to assume that because it's on the front page that it's a current thread.

The suggestion from Stuartyboy might be good. There are some members digging out the dead sea scrolls of threads and making posts.

Either a date or some how lock threads that are greater than 45-60 days old since the last post. Some of the threads with new posts I visited today were from Jan-Feb time frame.

Actually just displaying an icon next to a thread title if it is older than 2 months would work wonders. It would be quick and easily distinguishable.

    Thanks SEO_AM

Although I might like to think of myself as switched on, I'll put my hands up and admit to my offence. I replied to an old thread today because of this.

The date field could also be applied to "related threads" at the bottom of each reply page. Obviously some related threads my be months or years old and it's easy to click into an old thread this way as well.

We are making DevShed really work, aren't we? ;)

I'll point the thread out to them but keep adding your comments.

They might do it if its really wanted. They also might not do it.

They do however, deserve a big thank you for all the customizations they have made to the forum for us. Don't you think?

Thanks guys, we do our best to implement all suggestions that we feel will improve SEO chat, and honestly most of the suggestions we get are great ones. Sometimes its just a matter of bandwidth or lack thereof that prevents us from getting to some of your suggestions faster.

Question Is there a way to archive old threads

and make them read only?? I don't know anything about the forum software used here so may not be an option.

They are archived. The threads have to be older than 5 months or so.

PK, if archived it is longer than 8 months. One thread was more than 8 months old that somebody resurrected. We get enough threads and posts without someone going to the Rosetta Stone for content.

8 months......well thats another thing that needs to change. I think 3 months of no posts to a thread should be long enough to say it's officially dead and needs to be archived..
