The sticky in that forum explains why any directory announcment thread may be closed. In general that forum is for the discussion of directories and if a thread starts getting "Submitted..Thanks" type posts it gets closed

These types of thread bumpings were constantly pushing out serious threads

I was curious about a different thread being closed and PM'd one of the Mods...who wasn't quite sure why it was closed.

Jas, do the sticky's outline what is and isn't accepted. Sorry, I've been around for about a year and just haven't paid attention.

Usually the stickys are specific to the category and address a particular problem. At the time it was written new signups were using that thread to build their postcount while some Contributing Members were using them to get their sig in more (they rarely posted outside of there) and the new posts was getting flooded with "Submitted" or "Thanks" posts. Many of the threads were up to 2 years old.

Gabs is a valued member here but sometimes its about consistency. I imagine thats why that particular thread was closed although the general guidelines apply to all.

Its just an effort to help SEOChat provide the best info in an easy to browse way.

It is the "Read this before Posting" stickys that have to do with guidelines

I do understand...

The only problem was I was hoping to have a good chat regarding improvements and opinions etc....

Um... I understand rules but wouldn't it be better to remove the "thanks" posts etc....
