Netscape 6 & 4.7 Compatibility Problem.
Is it just me, or does any one else notice this on Netscape 6, at
http://www.seochat.com/index.php all that shows up is the 'General Chat & Gossip' and 'Suggestions & Feedback' boards. |

You're right. There's also a problem with Netscape 4.07, which I have installed to check sites for cross-browser compatibility before sending to Yahoo.
I think it's the template, rather than the software, because other boards show up OK. Gringo. |

OOOOOOOO wow - that is nasty.
I checked it in Netscape 7 (got rid of 6 a while ago), but I forgot about 4.7. It's fine in Netscape 7, but 4.7 is extremely poor. I think it's due to the lack of support is Netscape. The Template is designed by a 3rd party and I don't want to sound ignorant, but I'm not sure that I'm going to bother fixing it for the 0.1% of people who visit this foum using those old browsers

Darrin - I agree regarding workload for so few users. Also, it works in Opera so it may indeed just be a Netscape thing.
The only thing to watch out for is if you plan on getting the site into Yahoo - their editors tend to view sites with Netscape 4.7 in order to check immediately on cross-browser compatibility. And talking of this, have you all seen the storm brewing between MSN and Opera? http://www.opera.com/pressreleases/en/2003/02/14/ The "bork" version just shows a white page for me at msn.com so it looks likes MS is already onto the scam and fighting back. Yes and it works perfectly for me in Netscape 7 (which is why I overlooked it). I've tried to get accustomed to Netscape, but at the end of the day, it just isn't that good a browser. I think most people who use the netscape browser these days are people who wish to boycott microsoft.
It's funny that, I hear hundreds of people complaining about how they hate microsoft software and they refuse to use Internet Explorer .. but ask them what platform they use, and they usually reply with "Windows" - Seems to me like then should just change platform if they're trying to boycott MS?!?! |
