Lost O.P. but thread is still there.

How come it is possible on this forum for the Original Poster to delete his/her post without nuking the thread in question?

I've noticed some threads here where the first post appears to be a reply to a post that has been withdrawn, resulting in the responding poster to look like an arse basically.

Why is this allowed? Wouldn't it be better if:
- the thread was deleted along with the first post
- (better yet) OPs weren't allowed to be pulled altogether, except by mods (at special request)

Yep... Happened to me other day. The spam post was deleated and my post was left under the heading. Looked strange. Should just delete whole thread or have something like in first post This spammer was banned for SPAM... If you do not want to be banned DO NOT spam the forum... Please read the forum rules.....

Yeah I wonder if a mod nuked the post, or if the poster did it himself. Either way it's freaky.

I just experimented... I didn't realize that a person could delete his own post (or make it invisible).

Below the box where you type your post there is a checkbox...

"Post is invisible: Check this box to send this post to the moderation queue"....

If you check that your post will go invisible.

dzine agrees: (0, soz) Wow I never noticed that before. I vote we lose that checkbox asap

I have made a use of that check box a few times, the post does go invisible but on careful observation it does look a bit awkward as there is no post from you but your name still shows up where the last posters name is shown.......

I hope u got that, to be clear i am referring to that place where it shows as follows:

By XYZ"

Anyways, thats negligible though.
