And this is something i can bet upon, most of the newbies on the forum (well exceptions are always there) are making up useless posts just to reach to that level where they can add there signature.

I can remember a guy who was permanently banned a couple of days back who said in his post that "I cant wait to use that signature option". And his rest other 30 posts (here's a point, after 30 posts he stopped, probably waiting for the 30 days to get over)...were the same one liners such as "i like that"....."i dont think so"....."thats great" and more such nonsense.

I feel Sorry for ClickyB who went through the pains to deal with it and wasted his time in all that......

Another point, not only newbies but some members having more than 200 or 300 posts are also doing the same thing with posts such as "i really appreciate that", "Is that possible?", and so on......

Regarding thankful posts, i think the O/P is the one who sought out for help and on getting it, he can thank the rescuers. But what sense does it makes if a third person pops in and drops a "thanks that was useful".....instead of using the "agree" feature.

such posts deserve to be categorised spam right away.......

Once again thats my thoughts, may be a bit hard, but thats what i feel.

Yep, on some seo forums (see profile), posts like that are considered post-padding and they are deleted on sight. But it takes a limited number of mods a lot of time to wade through all the threads and keep em nicely pruned. Dunno if it can - or should - be done here.
