Question Enter reputation points.

What's the point of the 'Enter reputation points' option under 'Enter reputation points'? If we see a spammer and it shows 3, if we change it to 100, can we take away 100? Or can we only change the number to a lower number than the one allready there, for both giving and taking?

Sorry sorvoja, I just hit you with zero rep, so don't post anything rep-worthy for a couple of days please. I cannot rep you again until then

But answer: rp set to zero will hide your rep from the public (but then again it won't do much either). It may be useful for a little jab of bad rep to get your point across.

Reputation

I think it would be more fun if people where encouraged to join a vbulletin forum and post more relevant posts if their was more motivation than mere reputation points.

hmmm like say after 100 posts give away a free digital camera or something. I mean a 3.3 megapixel brica could only be worth like what 50 bucks wholesale?

I just don't see the insentive points does. People need real motivation.

Im picturing the spam now if you got a Digital Camera every time you hit 100.

The biggest motivation here is knowledge ;)

I kind of enjoy the sense of community the rep system adds. You get good rep from someone and think "That was nice. Let me find out a little more about this nice person, and let me see if I can return the favor."

My guess is that there are sometimes you want to agree and make a comment, but you don't want to give your full rep power to the comment, because it's more about the comment than it is about the passing on of rep, in that instance. But that's just a guess.

I've been spreading rep to keep my one-liner-post-count down. This seems like the perfect way to do that more often, on more (subtle) occasions. Except for the fact that one can still only rep 10x a day

I had to test it on you sorvoja, you were the closest victim.

But like I said, sometimes I feel like "disagreeing", but I don't want to hit people with -4* every time I disagree. That's why I rarely openly disagree, or sometimes compensate with an "agree" later on. That's all fine, but now I can disagree with 1RP: it will still be public, but only a little stab rep-wise...

* will be RP5 by the end of the week, I predict

P.S.: Jason, I hit enter by mistake. There's a bit missing from that rep message:
(...) double-green-blob barrier - hehe

Congrats with that BTW
