People really do go on companies websites and vote for products they would like to see. People lay out real money for kickstarter campaigns and sign online petitions.
Sure it is more difficult to get your customers to talk to each other than to broadcast a tweet.
And tweets do have their place.
But that tweet is not social just because somebody labeled twitter 'social medial'.
It is a glorified ten word press release.
