I can only speak from my own experience, but I think people are searching for substantially different types of things on Twitter than they are on Google. Twitter is a great place to look for up to the minute information and links: breaking news, sales and giveaways, new blog articles that won't have been indexed yet and may never get up into Google rankings. However, Google is my standby for more authoritative information that isn't time-sensitive, like information on how to do something and random information-oriented queries that pop into my mind. My feeling is that Twitter is creating its own search market that only overlaps Google's to a certain extent.

with the amount of people using search through Twitter. Its amazing that some companies still don't utilize Social Media Marketing.
