www.wineography.com

Any spare time I get I try and do some more on www.wineography.com. I could mainly do with any advice on the SEO side of this site. There are a couple of places that still need some attention, but any ideas would be great!

Thanks!
wineo

That's a nice site, but the buttons at the top are a bit hard to make out, I almost didn't see them.

Thanks celcon,

I picked up the grey a little...

About the session ID's, I wonder if there is a way to hide them from displaying in the urls?

Hi wineo,

How long your site has been online? Google is showing 0 outbound links for wineography.com, that can't be good. The first thing I would do is to get some outbound links. Most of the other major search engines also show none or just a few links.

This may be due to the phpsession ID's? There is a links page though...

How do you check the outgoing links?

I have removed the session ID's from the URL's, would this assist SEO?

When I say outbound links I mean links from other sites pointing to your site. You can check this by typing link:yoursitname in Google's search box. In your case it would look like this link:www.wineography.com

Ah thank you! I am a little new at this, forgive me. But I am here to learn and you have definitely helped!

I had to turn the php session back on cause it was breaking my sote without it. Don't most forums start with session ID's in the ULR's?

When ever I try submitting this site the directories and search engines, I always find myself unsure of which category / directory to submit it to. If there are none that match, which do I place it in?

Here is a reply that received back from the googlebot...

Thank you for your note. Please note that session IDs can cause problems
for our crawler. We recommend that you disable session IDs for Googlebot.

Regards,
The Google Team

I guess I have to make some more effort to at least not start a session for the googlebot, or any bot for that matter...

Yeah, good point however that dont seem to work on all sites i.e. some sites have a good PR and google says no content can be found for this url.

Very Nice Work....

hi wineography.com..

Nice site...I did not set up an account to see what's behind the curtain in terms of content..
....but if you want to get more exposure in the SERPs I would recommend some substantial upfront content on just about anything relevant relating to "wine tasting" and all its nuances...
I mean like 10 - 20 pages of really excellent unique content that really educates the visitor about wine tasting, the various techniques, the various schools, styles ...etc...

This way you will be reinforcing your site's theme with some really fine content and more people will want to sign up and also use your forum...this will continue to grow on itself and really help you to build out a real fine resource....

nice work...and congrats..

Thanks decaff, I have been planning to add pages with all that sort of content. I just have to get round to it! Thanks for the great advice.
