After the umpteenth time I paid for the privilage of being treated like crap by a business, I decided to start a web site where people could share their customer service experiences and post business reviews - both positive and negative.
I've got a message board segemented by industry, with a category for posting product reviews as well, and a business directory; registered users can add and grade businesses in the directory and post on the board- anyone can read the board or browse the directory. The directory is sgemented by state, major metro area, industry category, and industry sub-category. It's empty right now except for a few posts by friends- it's been in development until just today. Everything seems to be working, but it hasn't been banged on. I'd appreciate any suggestions on layout, navigation, ease of use, etc. All the standard stuff. Essentially I'm trying to create a free Angie's List that has nationwide appeal. I kept it plain on purpose. Thanks! the relaxzoolander ten ---
1. i like very much the concept of this site. 2. simple is good. it could use a little more graphic appeal. at least a logo at the top. but simple is good. 3. any forum with movie reviews is a winner in my book. 4. obviously you need to get yourself some incoming links and develop some page rank. 5. get a dmoz listing if you have not already. 6. rewrite the index page copy to work in your keywords better. 7. find out where sites like epinions are listed...get listed there too. 8. the business directory is a nice addition too. [there is no place to put a web design company in the columbus ohio section.] 9. the site design/navigation/layout works well. 10. its a great concept...people love to bitch and hear the bitching of others. thats why all those judge shows are so popular. .

Thanks for the feedback
Thanks for the quick reply relaxzoolander - great feedback.
I'll get a logo done - though I've said that about another site that's 2 years old and still doesn't have one. I'll nail down my key word phrases and redo home page content. Not sure exactly what keyword angle I want to go with. I was waiting (hoping!) for more message content and businesses in teh directory before I try a DMOZ lising. As you know, it can be a long, narrow and rocky road getting a robust forum going. Good suggestions for sites to research. If you go back, you'll see an Internet category has been added with several subcategories --forgot to add that you'll have to register if you want to list/copmment on/grade your business (heh). Thanks again for your expert advice!!! Webdango Last edited by Webdango : March 31st, 2004 at 09:36 PM. Reason: Oops- |
