www.LiquidBanner.com

Hello, I am new to SEOchat. I have been on numerous sites & find this one very useful.
The site www.liquidbanner.com is a Banner Exchange. It is a method of free advertising &
Branding for webmasters. The goal of this is exchange is to be able to serve a large audience.

I would like for some advice on Optimizing this website to rank higher in Google under the keywords
"Banner Exchange". Last I checked the main page had a PR of 4. I also have some backlinks, but they
will not show up. I am looking for recommended changes that I can make to rank higher under this search term.

I am willing to make any necessary tweeks. This website is completely off of the charts (I would love to be able to find it in the first 10 pages even). From what I understand,
link development is a major thing in getting good rank, but I have a feeling that there are some things/tricks that
I may not be taking advantage of.

Any advise/help that I can get from here is greatly appriciated. As you will see, I already tried a few little tweeks from someone elses advise!
If you wanna help me via an instant messenger, please email me at admin@liquidbanner.com with an AOL , Yahoo, or MSN instant messenger and I will contact you. I am online every day for like 10+ hours a day.

Thank you very much for any help that you may provide. And as a good webmaster, if there is anything that I can do to help you,
I will try my best.

I would say 95% of your problem is simply not having enough backlinks with your keywords as anchor text. The other 5% is some on-page stuff, but that is pointless until you get the backlinks up.

Use this tool: http://www.mcdar.net/KeywordTool/keywordtool.asp and put in your URL and then "banner exchange" and look at the results. It will give you an idea of how many backlinks you will need to be competive.

Personally, I also like this tool: http://www.iblcheck.com/ to get a general sense of how difficult it will be to place for a search phrase. Looks like "banner exchange" is relatively competitive.

[edit] Don't read this post to mean that you can't get there ... you certainly can and it looks like it will be lucrative when you do ... but it is going to take a very dedicated effort. I suggest Arelis as a tool to help you with your campaing to get backlinks. Good Luck! [/edit]

hmm. Thanks, Another clarification I need is why wont any of my backlinks show up?
Is google just slow at listing them?
Other opinions are appricaited ;)

While waiting for more replies I will work on my backlinks.

But I tell you, none of my backlinks showing up is very discouraging

Backlinks can take a couple of months to show. Also, not all backlinks will ever show. Most of the time a backlink has to be PR4 or higher to show. Do you have examples of the backlinks and the date they were first created?

It can take awhile before they show up in google. I believe it can take a few google updates before they are counted. How new are these backlinks?

Well, there are links that are a couple of months old & others are newer. Can the effect actually kick in from them before they show up? For example lets say I manage to get 50 back links today, could i notice a difference in a week ?

also does anyone notice anything else that can be done ?

They will likely kick in before they actually show as backlinks. I can't give you a timeframe ... it seems to me that within 2-4 weeks I do see the affect of my backlinks when they have decent PR (4 or higher), but for me it has not been 100% consistent. Also, many believe gogle will discount new backlinks if they is an "unnaturally" fast build up of them to a specific domain esp, when that domain has few backlinks. If this happens to you, then your SERP improvements may actually be weeks or months AFTER they show as backlinks.
