In the dark days of the internet metatags were really handy. Search engine robots weren't clever enough to make sense of pages so you had to tell them what the page was about. That's what metatags were for. Most robots are much cleverer now and look at your actual content, so the majority of your tags are now of little use. Some people suggest keeping the keyword and description tags. I've stopped bothering with them and only use the title tag.
Optimise your title tags making them specific to each different page. Use appropriate keywords in your links. Fopr example - at the moment there is a link to "asp" then a link to "scripts". Make the second link "asp scripts".
Above all, try to get as many links into your site from other web sites. Make sure they use relevant words in their link text. That, and useful content, are what it's all about these days.
