Suggestions on my site please - thank you in advance for your help!

I have been a poster and a lurker on SEO Chat for several months now. I can’t tell you how much I have learned from everything I’ve read. We have gone from a PR0 to PR4 and we are now getting several thousand hits from G & Y each month. The problem is we don’t show up anywhere near the top for what we have really been targeting. It is at the point where it I need your help to get to the next level. There are only so many back links a sane man can add with good anchor text before getting frustrated. Please take a look at our site and let me know what your suggestions are.

Keywords we are targeting:

Party Poker – Current Position 150+ on G

Party Poker Bonus Codes – Current Position 70+ on G

Side note – We show up #8 for “Party Poker Promotions” which I just found out the other day. The funny thing is we are not even trying to target this keyword (trust me I’m happy we are up there). The part that gets me, and ultimately made me make this post is there are 107,000 results for that and we come up #8. For Party Poker Bonus Codes there are 97,000 results and we are buried way down. We haven’t been trying to optimize for the other phrase, but it’s much higher. Help me please! Keep me from jumping out the window

The words "party poker" will be tough to get because its highly competitive. Even though you have another 4 word phrase you are targeting, this part of the phrase makes it tough. To prove that your sEO is working, search for "party poker bonus codes" in quotes and notice that you are #16. When searched outside the quotes you have to compete for all the words in the phrase. Search for "bonus codes" and you are #1. "Party poker" will just take some time and strong BLs. You are definately moving in the right direction.

You are well on your way. I'd maybe tweak some of the on-page stuff such as adding more content, h1 tags, etc. If you are looking at adding a nice poker chip store affiliate to your site, let me know.

How come we show up so high for "Party Poker Promotions" then? Party Poker is still in the phrase and we are on the 1st page.

Also, when searching for Party Poker Bonus Codes sites that have A LOT less backlinks and lower PR show up way above us.

Could be a link quality issue. While you have way more links than others, links are coming from fewer sites. There is a theory floating about that Google is discrediting multiple BLs from same domain. I'm not sure if it has been proven, but this could be an example. Also, does the anchor text vary on your BLs or is it mostly the same?

My backlink anchor text varies quite a bit. I'm even pointing to different pages in my site now.

Varying anchor text is good. Now I think you should focus on getting more strong BLs from more sites. Instead of sitewide links in a footer, try for links from content within the site. If you can get a few of these from some PR6 or PR7 pages you will likely see improvement in SERPs.

Put the keywords you are more trying to target at the beginning of the title.

I notice anchor text as Party Poker Bonus Code and link as something like ...party_poker.asp try changing it more keyword rich like Party_Poker_Bonus_Codes.asp
