Site Review - Knowledge Put In Practice?

I am relatively new to this but I have done tons of research over the past month. I recently presented my findings in one of the topics in a seminar i presented. The SEO topic lasted about 5 hours.

During my research and preparation, i began optimizing my own site.

I was hoping to get some feedback on my site and if I put what I learnt into practice.

Site: http://www.rustybrick.com/

prime keywords are:
web development
web design
web consulting
web applications and all that jazz.

We are a company focused on building Web based applications, either through browser interfaces or through desktop interfaces (but connects through Web services). So I would like to know if i am attracting those interested in my services and I am interested to see if I put my knowledge (whatever I have) into practice on http://www.rustybrick.com/.

Different strokes for different folks. Remember that part.

To me based on what you have provided "web" seems to be your ""primary keyword" adding saying "web" this "web" and "web" something else isn't "web" important

>> web applications design development consulting with whomever <<

Says alot more

another adjacent page >> web design consulting and applications development <<... and so on...

Once you start making a dent in ranking... tweaking get ytou the rest of the way.

I thought a lot of the 'text component' to SEO has to do with targeting keyword phrases. Have the keyword 'web' alone is not as effective as having the keywords 'web application development'. So if someone searches for 'web application development' the site that contains 'web application development' most and in most "prominent" locations on the page would come up first in google and other search engines. Obviously, text is one component and I isolated that variable only.

would you recommend putting outbound links to the 'partners' homepages? Would that increase my sites popularity component?

this is the page I am talking about:

Yes.

In addition - (your previous response) web once is good - but the second time really doesn't help.

If everything on site is "web" then use each page to focus on different web things.

web design (your homeage) and add a few more words to potential capture some lesser used queries like:

web design startegies and consulting

next page
web site development and maintaince.

linking the two pages together (and with others) will add specific relevancy so that "web design" become highly relevant on one and web site on the other, plus a wider array of ones & twos refferals per day.

The spaghetti effect.

in regard to the 'web' thing...

i have internal pages that are very specific to keywords, at least i think.

The homepage is really a starter page, where i would like to cover every 'web' related topic. I hope that my internal pages come up first, because they are more specific to the keyword of choice.

So a homepage, do you be generic or specific?

I am linking the outside partner links now. But i think i will be tracking them "i.e. mydomain.com?site=parnersite.com" is this bad?

If you theme your pages then the home page will come up as a second )indented) listing to support the first - more targeted page.

i think i understand. And i tried to make my homepage that 'index' to the rest of my pages.

The down side in SEO is that my homepage is heavy on graphics and dhtml dropdowns (javascript, css, dhtml and more elements). what i did was made links on the bottom plus a little paragraph.

Also, i added a <noscript> tag that basically contains my site map and more.

This is all to 'workaround' the high design element of my site without cloaking.

So based on your comments, i feel like i am doing the right thing. I might have to do more research on my keywords but i think i got the 'spagetti' effect working. i hope???
