review my human edited directory

Hi all,

I want to make a directory with less but quality links. Also I donot need to add all possible category during the first installation. I have added around 60 categories, rest I am expecting suggestion from the visitors.

Also the websites will get a good traffic out of it, we are adding the screen shots of the front pages. Slowly we will implement some ranking algos too.

speed is a top priority for a directory.
keep it fast.

2.
encourage submitters to link to your site.
provide information and even a small logo that they can use to create a link.

3.
develop a logo that is easy to understand and memorable.

4.
refer to top directories for hierarchy.
they have done it all before.
they have worked out the bugs.
dont 'reinvent the wheel.'
dont use category titles like 'market' when 99% of all other directories call it 'business'.

5.
reviews and polls are interesting.
but they can be contrived and spammed.

6.
the home page image thing is a nice touch.
please give image size requirements.

7.
you wont get far with the index page title misspelled:
"Human edited direcotry"

8.
you colors and graphics are minimal.
that is good.

9.
dont call a function 'pick site' if is really just a 'search'.

10.
urls need to have category names in them...
not numbers like "http:.//www.hedir.com/21"
