Ranked #2 in most engines, except Google! (#16)

Hi,

I was just wondering if i'm doing something wrong to Google. My site has been going for a few years now, but recently was majorly updated. Google has picked up the update, but
1) Doesn't list it anywhere near the top (unlike pretty much any other search engine)
and 2) Doesn't seem to have indexed the rest of the site.

The changes have been in effect for going on for two months now, and this included converting the pages from dynamic, eg index.php?area=contact to static, eg contact.html which I thought was supposed to help google crawl the site

The website address is www.dyebrick.com . Any feedback on whether or not it is "Google Friendly" would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
James Harland,
Dyebrick webmaster.

You are doing ok on other SEs primarily due to onpage SEO (Yahoo, Ask, etc.). You will continue to do poorly with Google until you build backlinks to your site. Google is primarily offpage SEO. A backlink campaign is in order if you want your site to be successful with Google (approx. 70% of all searches performed are on Google).

Hello Mr. Harland.
How did you rank before the site changes?

Hi,

I can't remember exactly, but I think it was within the top 5 of Google.

And that was with a Flash navigation bar, yuk ;)

Thanks for the response,
James.

Suggestions

Perhaps your competitors have just done major updates to outrank you. I agree with an earlier post, Google is very link oriented. Gain some ground there to pull ahead.

Hello Mr. Harland. One of my sites went from #1 on my (non-competitive) targeted keyword to page three in late September. Is this when you dropped too? If so, it might just be the algo tweek and not your changes.

The site looks SE friendly. The CSS styled nav buttons are nice. I would recommend moving the JavaScript to external files, though.
