Please review http://www.bad-breath-guide.com
Hello! SEO Chat members,
For the past few months, I've learned a great deal about SEO in this helpful friendly forum. I've applied many of them when I created my new site, http://www.bad-breath-guide.com. I would greatly appreciate feedback on the site, especially on the SEO elements. Thank you, |

Hiya, that is a lovely site (I love green and white, it looks nice and clean).
Your keyword density for 'bad breath' is at 13.91% which is probably a bit too high for Googles liking. On searching, I found that Google recognised the word 'Halitosis' as being the same phrase as 'bad breath' (in other words if someone searches for Bad Breath, Google will also take in to account the word Halitosis). To improve your keyword density for Bad Breath (bring it down) either remove the phrase a couple of times, change a couple of 'bad breaths' to 'halitosis' or add more content without that phrase in, if you add more content, do it at the bottom of the page. Are you aware that you have no keyword tag or description tag in your page? The alt tag in your logo 'bad breath guide logo', I'd lose the word 'logo' just because I'm picky and don't like it. As an aside, 'bad breath' is the ONLY phrase you have optimised and if I were a user that's not something I would search for. I'd go for 'help with bad breath' or 'bad breath problem'. There are lots of free tools on the web that can help you discover what people are actually searching for and it would be a good idea to go and find two or three keyphrases to mix and match on your main page.... http://www.google.com/search?source...ee+keyword+tool Once you are done, go and get links to your site with your keyphrase/s as the anchor text. Hi! Jane,
Thank you very much for your deep insight into my website. I really appreciate your effort. I'm aware that the keyword density is more than average. I don't follow a strict value for keyword density. As long as my text flows naturally, I think it's fine. I've done a good research on the keywords using Overture and Wordtracker. I'm not optimizing for "bad breath guide", but for "bad breath" in my main page. Each article is optimized for one other keyphrase. My anchor text on the top has to be "bad breath guide" because it does make more sense than having "bad breath." I hope it still contributes in ranking for "bad breath." I think meta keywords and description tags no longer help rank high in search engines--at least not in Google. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I strongly believe in theming, and my site is laser-themed. I don't know how it would help. I need to wait until I get out of the sandbox. Hey, I can communicate using SEO methodologies! Thanks for SEO chat. I expect more useful insight into my website. |

I understand what you are saying but it makes me a bit uneasy that it's soooo high for 'bad breath'. I'm not saying that Google WILL penalise you BUT Google has been known to penalise sites with too high a keyword density. Quote:
Sincere apologies, I meant to put 'bad breath' (being the ONLY optimised keyphrase). I've amended my original post. Yes I understand your reasoning if you are working on other phrases for other pages. Quote:
You are right about Google not holding much weight (if any) with keyword and description tags but many others certainly do. It's a good idea to get them in so you are optimised for all search engines. Quote:
A pleasure talking to you Jane |

Hello! Jane,
Thanks again. Excellent highlights on some of the SEO elements. I think I need to do a bit more research on the keyword density. By the way, if you don't mind, could you tell me what major search engines place some weight on keyword and description meta tags. Is Yahoo! one of them? Also, some comments on internal linking structure will be appreciated. Basically, I want to distribute the PR equally throughout the website. Am I doing this correct? Do you recommend this practice? |
