Please review/advise

Hi,

We have just taken over http://www.glowsticks.co.uk & are unfamiliar with how it has been programmed. We have been familiar with Actinic which basically negates the need to understand HTML - but we have managed very well in optomising this site.

Our query really is that all of the PR is concentrated on the home page & nowhere else - this has been the case with this site for many months if not forever. The site has been up for over 3 years. We are not concerned with PR - just that it indicates we dont quite understand how this type of programming works!

We are wanting to optomise this site but we are initially concerned that the site doesnt seem to link within itself very well - or at least not sufficient to move the PR around.

Any feedback most welcome

Thank you

That's interesting - your index page is PR5 but all of the rest of the pages are grey bar (this page not ranked by Google).

I did a search for "flashing belly light". Google had this on the second page:
http://www.glowstick.co.uk/category.asp?catcode=67
Note the url is glowstick.co.uk and not glowsticks.co.uk. The link didn't work, but the cache shows the same page.

I think Google is seeing duplicate content here and is ignoring the content it feels is less important.

I should have a close look at the redirect you have set up on glowstick.co.uk. Also make sure there is absolutely no content on glowstick.

Thanks for the reply Vord

Sorry but I didnt mention the domain name had just changed from glowstick to glowsticks - but this isnt the concern.

Is asp in any way poor at linking within a site?

I use Actinic & understand this product - I just dont know asp at all -

Can anyone comment on the actual links (I know its is not optimised)?

Any help a godsend!

ASP is hellacool. It's like a Microsoft version of PHP - some weird stuff happens in the server but then it just serves a normal html page.

I sent a crack team of highly trained VORDbots around your site. They were fine with all of your links as they are just standard html - they got around fine. Search engine robots will have no problem navigating.

Promise you'll add a little more content when you optimise. One of the VORDbots fell asleep and had to be carried out.

i am not seeing any graybars...just big fat zeros.
i dont see any problems with the internal pages.
i just think it hasnt been long enough for the pagerank to work its way down.
also...i think its a weak pr5 and needs more incoming links in general.
listen to vord and his vordbots he is the king of web accessibility.
also...the golf site links aint gonna cut the mustard long-term.

good luck with those glowy sticks dude.

Cheers Guys! Appreciate the feedback but its still a bit of a mystery as the home page has been pr5 for years *(if thats possible) - a long time anyway.

Yep its in dire need of content & also a lnks page - but why aint the pr filtering down?? :-| I'm flummoxed!

Your old site is no longer showing up in Google - which is a good thing. If you go to Google and type in "site:www.glowsticks.co.uk" It shows lots of pages on your new site, so Google seems generally happy with it. I suspect you'll see some pagerank after the next pagerank update (relaxzoolander says it takes a couple of months for PR to filter down for a new domain name - and he really does know what he's talking about).

Do try to add more relevant words to the category pages. You can use ASP for this - just add a new field to the database that generates the pages. The percentage difference in words between pages is currently very small, and I've got a feeling that you won't get the highest ever rankings for that reason.

But don't even think about a "links page". Addd a "resources" page, or (better) a "moreglows" page. Google seems to be ignoring any links on pages that call themselves "links" at the moment.

Hello again,

I have just realised that another site we took over at the same time is just the same - clubbertoys.com has not had any changes made yet is displaying the same charactistics - pr5 on homepage & 0 elsewhere -

Any ideas?
