Please Review
I made some changes to my website and wanted to see if anybody has any suggestions to help me increase ranking. Concentrating on keywords= refinance, refinance loan, refinance rates
Thanks, Jerky |

Also can someone tell me how I might optimize my internal links too. I have noticed on some websites backlinks they have several from their own website

First of all, a link to your site would be good.
Second of all, doing your homework would be nice... there are many ongoing discussions RE: internal linking structure. |

Just a quick base guideline...
All main areas should be accessable in one click (Home page, site map, privacy policy etc) by use of global navigation. All the rest of the site information should be available within 3 clicks (secondary nav). |

There are many people here who would disagree with you.

Who. Me?
Why would anyone want to disagree with my previous statement? It's a basic useability rule. If there are any other views I would be glad to hear them and their reasoning behind those opinions. |

Adding extraneous pages to your global navigation is a bad way to channel PageRank throughout your site.
In other words, if you link to your "Privacy Policy" from every page on your site, you are wantonly distributing PageRank to an area of your site that is unimportant to your sales. |

OK, I except that. The 'Privacy Policy' example was just an example. It all depends what your site is about, how many pages there are, is it commercial/non-commercial, are you collecting any data that requires a privacy policy etc so insert 'contact details' or 'about us' or something.
But as for the rules themselves you don't disagree I take it. |

I just disagree with the order of importance that you placed on the pages, i.e. the site map and privacy policy should be one click away, while everything else is two?
It seems to me that my sales are higher when my product pages are closer to the top. |

Most of the sites I designed are information based not commercial. Commercial sites would have different priorities to the kind of sites I'm used to. So to make it totally generic...
1 click away from high priority pages A maximum of 3 clicks away for all the rest. Better? |
