I tried and worked out a lot of optimisation steps for a new launched site...www.kdpaccountants.com
After all this i dint even get a google ranking forget the position in google...Please can anyone tell me where i was lacking ...below are some points which i had followed:

a. Keywords
b. Title
c. Description
d. sitemap
e. Good Content - no manipulation for search engine
f. Got rid of the js in the code and put it in an external file
g. At the bottom of each page use menus as text links
h. Submited site to ODP and Yahoo Dir
i. No doorway pages

I am feeling dam bad after working so hard no results at all ....still trying to put a lot of efforts & trying to analyse as what do do after all this ?????? Please advice....

Backlinks - that is what is sorely lacking. Once you've covered your on-page optimization, you then have the tedious job of off-page - getting backlinks into your site.

Would you mind explaining real quick how you got rid of the javascript by using an external file? My header is in JS and I am wondering if this is negatively affecting my SEO efforts

You've got a great site, well done

As Donna says, you are lacking backlinks (with your keywords as anchor text). You could help yourself with this on your own site too, what is your main keyphrase? (what do you think people will be searching for to find you?)

Jane

thanx Donna & Jane...

I will try to have backlinks & adding achor text...anchor text are hyperlinking of important keyword phrases instead of unrelated text right ??????

My main keywords are chartered accountants India..NRI..Foreign Investment...

actually we guide & help Indians settled (temporary or permanent) in foreign countries with their taxation & also who are interested in investing in india in property business etc....

I have one Query -- as to do you need the content to have keyphrases repeatedly....& are H tags very important as specially for Google.

I am surprised as to why I am not ranked atleast a low rank would give inspiration for further promotion....

thanx again in advance....

You are not ranked because you have no backlinks, it is possible that Google hasn't even found your page yet!

Your understanding of anchor text is correct You can help yourself using your own site too. See at the bottom of every one of your pages you have a little 'about the company'. When you are found by the search engines you will rank well for 'clientele', 'invest india' etc. You want to rank well for 'chartered accountants india'....... ;)

You actually don't need to have the keyphrases repeated over and over but it will make the search engines job of listing you so much easier if you do have them at least a couple of times. There is a fine line between writing a page for a user and writing a page for a search engine and you can only do you best to please both.

H tags are important but they are not the be all and end all of on page optimisation. If you don't want/like them then don't use them.

You might like to take a look at this tool so you can see what people are searching for....
http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/s...countants+india

I've done a quick calculation for on page density for 'chartered accountants india' which is 3.01% (in my opinion this should be around the 5-6% mark to make the most of your on page optimisation).
You do not have that phrase in your description tag, alt tags, headings (H tags), link text or bold text.

Then find/get as many links to your site as possible

Good luck.
Jane
