Optimization Suggestions - Looking for SEO
Great forum with lots of great info!
If any of the experts out there would like to take a quick look at our site, http://www.fasthomeoffer.com and make any quick suggestions on how to optimize it for Google/Yahoo. We are working on a backlink campaign, but outside of that what are some things we can do? Our primary keywords are "we buy houses". Regards, Jeremy Brandt FastHomeOffer.com |

The first thing I would do is add an <h1> tag to the page with "We Buy Houses". |

Hiya
Well, I learned something new today. I never in a million years thought anyone would search for that phrase but it seems over 200 people do every day Anyway.... Your density on that page is quite low for that keyphrase, you can improve that quite a bit. Use a different page on your site for each optimised keyphrase. Lets assume you are using 'we buy houses' on your main page... Remove the '!' from your title. You have 86 words in your keyword tag, ideally you want less than 20. You've got no Meta Description - put one in (this will help other search engines). You've no headings. Use the keyphrase in H1 and H2 if possible. Something is wrong with your Alt Tags. Have you forgotten to enclose your keyphrase in "inverted comma's"? Use the keyphrase on OTHER pages of your site to link back to your main page with that keyphrase as the link text. Visually, your site looks great to me Jane |

Great! We've made a few changes, hopefully it will help our rankings. Any other suggestions?

agreed, you have a nice big empty space at the top of the page that a nice h1 or h2 heading can go...besides that keep working on backlinks and add content and you should do well. keep in mind, google and yahoo are two different animals and should be treated as such...the days of 'optimize for google and everything else will fall into place' are over...i would suggest possibly using a seperate URL for each since it's hard to keep both happy with the same site...as an example... http://www.langreiter.com/exec/yahoo-vs-google.html put in we buy houses and you'll notice the difference in SERPs. |

Great!
I'd take the 'all' out of your alt tag 'we buy all houses'. And I'd dump the URL - biz link, they don't pass on PR. Unless you are getting loads of hits from them? Only then are they worth keeping. Here is a useful tool for you too.... http://www.googlerankings.com/index.php Give it a couple of weeks and hopefully you will see some results. In the meantime, get links, links, and more links to your site with 'we buy houses' as the anchor text. Although your site is fine you still have plenty of room to add that keyphrase in more times should you wish (it would probably make it look a bit spammy though). Anyway, when you do pop into the search results you can feel secure in your 'experimenting' if you want to add/remove the phrase a couple of times just to see if it has much effect on the results.
