The navigation looks simple and clean to me.
You should add a robots.txt file and exclude pages that you don't want indexed. For example, the links page has nothing but affiliate ads. It doesn't enhance the site...so I would exclude it. Robots.txt would look like: User-agent: * Disallow: /page/page/344188.htm The site does not tell me much about your actual business...where you are located, etc.. I personally never buy from shops that do not tell me their correct business location with city, state and zip. oh, and I need to know the phone number for the model on page... |

Thank you yintercept
Thank you yintercept for your advice.
I don;t put my home addresse on my site because I live in Canada and I think that would stop alot of Americans from ordering from me. What do you think? www.bluestarlingerie.com |

I think the plusses of putting the address on the site out weigh any minuses. With a high end product like lingerie, people love ordering from an exotic place. Just make sure the location page is clear that you accept orders from the US, and that you provide all the guarantees and return policies that people expect from US merchants.
Playing up location can work wonders for a site. For example, you might mention that in Canada, people are experts at keeping warm on long winter nights. If you are in Quebec, you can play on the romantic french side of things. One of the main reason to emphasize location is that it is generally easy to get listed in local search directories...which help build web presence. |

Same here, if there is no address and phone number... no way am I going to buy. You need to instill confidence in people that you are real and not just someone who will run off with their money. ALso, a privacy statement and a policy for returns. If someone has a question, they need a phone number to call... zen

Hello,
I'm by no means an expert here, but I was in the same camp as you...I think. Let me explain. I noticed that your home page redirects to a /page/page/11111.htm type URL. That was exactly what my site had when I was using Citymax as my webhost. From the advice I got, and I got it many times from many sources, it was really hindering my optimization for many reasons. Namely, if your set up is anything like mine was, then you have no ability to customize your Title tags to each individual page...VERY important. Whatever you type as a heading winds up as your Title whether it looks right or not. You have no ability to render your meta tags differently for each individual page...again, important. Your main home page redirects. Some say this is a no-no and is something search engines don't like. You have no ability to add DOC TYPE to your coding. I wound up having to rebuild my site from ground up....no small task. I then decided I had no choice but to switch hosts and go with one that uses FTP, versus having my site stored in Citymax's database. Even though Citymax is great for general information type sites, I don't think it is a beneficial set up for anyone who has an online business and needs exposure. I just can't see it happening if you can't control your code more. Anyway, just some thoughts! Good luck! Kelly |
