Just out of curiosity...

This is really more a question rather than a review of my site..
(but a short review would have been nice too..)

I run www.military-quotes.com, and as the name say, it's about military related quotations. (and more...)
it has PR 7, and around 3000-4500 unique visitors pr day.

I have done some SEO on the site, but I'm no expert.
And I know the layout isn't the best in the world, since I'm no web designer either.....

But, I have recently started to rank pretty well in Yahoo for my main keywords "quotes" and "military" (not together).
Ranks as #18 and #15 in yahoo (of 60,000,000 pages), but around #75 and #100 in google..

Why the big difference between yahoo and google?
Any tips on what I could/should do to rank higher in google?
The number of visitors from google and yahoo are almost the same for these two keywords now, so an increase in the google rankings to 40-50 (or better) would be real nice...
I'm trying to get more links with the anchor text "military quotes" now, will this work?

Thanks
Lars

Ranking Better

My understanding of Google is that inbound links account for the majority of how Google rankes that particular page.

So the pge needs to be optimized for your partivular term, in this care say 'military quotes' and then you need well-ranking pages (according to Google PR) to rank to your site with the term 'military quotes' in the anchor text of the link. You already seem to be headed this dorection, so I think you're on the right track.

A few such links from some PR 5 or higher sites should do wonders for where you rank on Google's organic results.

first your pr doesnt affects the yahoo results.
Yahoo ranks mainly works from its directory(the listed site at there and the links from the yahoo directory listed sites)
Yahoo also counts every links that have external links from its directory.
If you want get ranked better at yahoo, the only stteps for more you have to do is list your site at Yahoo Directory.
I see that you have done already for ranking within your site.
Nice optimized and very targeted.
Good Job.

Thanks for your time..

I have tried to get my site listed in the Yahoo directory for ages..
I don't want to spend $300 on a paid listing..
Is it worth it? Anyone with some experience there??
I'm already on the first page for both keywords in Yahoo anyway, and it's not bringing me that much traffic... ??:

And how do I order "the relaxzoolander ten ---" by the way...

Have you sent out the relaxzoolander signal yet? It's a big floodlight in Columbus Ohio with a ginger bread man symbol on it.

According to my business, i do not care the yahoo results, i also against to pay $350 for the yahoo listing. But until the next year , yes i ll pay for it.
If you care your yahoo rankings i recommend you to pay for it.
The exact explains for this reasons would take tons of page, but if take a deep research about the Yahoo Ranking(New Algos.)
You have to pay for the Yahoo Listing.

It's a long way from Norway to Columbus Ohio, but I'll try to light it here and hope that it's big enough...

No "Relaxzoolander ten...." :-?
What do I have to do to deserve that honor??

Some more input from others would be nice as well, since I really don't know that much about SEO and webdesign...

The site gets more and more popular every day now (5500 unique pr day record last week! ), so I want it to be as good looking and easy to navigate as possible..

Thanks
Lars
