Is it too many links on homepage?

Hi everybody
I would like you take a look at my new site and let me know if this is too many links on the homepage? I have dynamic discussion topics on the left column, top 10 members list with links to their profiles, right column randomly generates 15 links from the directory, and center column has articles. Do you think I have too many links on the homepage? And what would you suggest me to make it more optimized for search engines?
Thanks in advance
matt

The quantity of links isn't critical, but don't forget that the many external links you have, the lower internal PR distribution will be.

I'm sure that lots of external links could be made indirect (through PHP script).
