Is it hard to understand what is our site about?
Hi all!
Our movies site offers a personal service: find out people who have the same taste in movies as you, so you can consult their ratings for any movie you want to see. http://www.filmaffinity.com I think the way we explain that is neat & clear. Many user register and they do not rate any movie though.... maybe they donīt get the usefulness of our service? What do you think? Thanks in advance. PS: We recently added a link "Are you lost?" on the top navigation bar... I guess this will clarify those guys who donīt rate movies and find recommended movies.... donīt you think? |

First if you want a response from an audience -- you must appeal to there needs.
My first thought is -- does an visitor "need" to rate a movie for their benefit - or yours? Is "are you lose" a benefit? If you turn the table and give them a benefit for "rating" you will be very surprised at the response. Note: a benefit must be agreed upon - what you think is a benefit may not be the same as a benefit to the visitor. (example: a non-smoker will unlikely consider a "free" cigarette a benefit -- but a smoker would!) Therefore - choice of benefits cover wider audiences.

Hi Fathom!
Thanks for your response. Your view is extremely interesting!! YOU WROTE: If you turn the table and give them a benefit for "rating" you will be very surprised at the response. Should this work? instead of "You need to be a registered user to rate movies...." write something like "Rate this movie and you will find movie recommendations" Make sense to your point of view? Are you lost? is a link to the people who did register and leave the site without rating any movie: I thought it was 'cos they were confused (many guys do not read how our affinity system works). Do you think I should change the sentence? THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! |
