I am pretty new to web designing but I have put together this site from knowledge cobbled together.
I would be very interested in peoples opinions on the Keywords in the META tags as well as the overall site design in relation to Google. www.starktechnologies.com At present the Page Rank is 1. When I originally posted the url to Google the Page Rank was 3 and then it dropped down to 1 after about 2-3 weeks. The site isn't ranked anywhere on Google so I've been trawling around trying to find out how to push it up but so far no luck. Would really appreciate any positive input I can get. Thank you |

Ok, there's a bit of seo work that needs to be done to the site. First off, start by clicking on the SEO for Newbies link in my signature to start the learning process. Next, to increase your PR above 1, you're going to need to get links pointing to your site. Things like changing your Title tag to something more important (like your keyword phrase you are wanting to achieve ranking for), using your keyword phrase more in the body of your text, including headers (h1, h2), bold, etc. Your meta keywords is not important as google ignores it. Anyway, start with the SEO for Newbies link, and read the threads here on SEO Chat and you will learn a lot.

I think a site map is really important for google to read all of your pages and it helps if your internal linking structure isn't that great.
And dazzlindonna is right, your title could use work for the key words you are targeting. |

Ok Great! Thank you to you both. I'll look through all those links.
Any suggestions on the Title keywords? The company provides Wireless Hotspot solutions as well as selling all manner of IT equipment and services. Had a quick scan over a couple of links and realise I should be looking at SERP's rather than PageRank as I need to get the site onto Google's first results page when someone searches for Hotspots or Wireless Hotspots or Wireless Internet Cafe's etc. Are there any good links to look at first? Is there anything more I can do to up the page's presence on Google? Thanks for your help |

You need to go to overture and see what people type in for key words when searching.
When I was knew I didn't know what to search for, I needed a page that was web building slang for dummy's. I didn't even know the word meta tags exsisted, let alone look for optimization. I would have paid for business then. I would check your competition and see what they are doing for title tags, but don't copy theirs. It is like cheating and besides, you would want the webbuilding newbies, I would think. Ask yourself who will your customers be and what will they search for. Just my opinions.............. |
