Hi guys,
Thanks for taking the time to read this...

Ive recently done up an ecommerce site selling wine in ireland. Ive tried to use the alt and title tags as much as possible to fit in some likely keywords that people might be searching for. There's a good bit of competition out there so i want this site up at top ranks (dont we all) or as close as can be

So any tips? what you think of the general design? Ive got some validation issues on some pages but the index page checks grand for now (havnt had time to sort the other validation errors yet)

Thanks again!
Daragh

Lack of images yeah? perhaps ill try work some more in by increasing the width of the site. That way it wont look so crowded. In terms of my title tags and alts (SEO) how am i shaping up there?

Cheers for your time!

you hav alt tags in thats gd. although i don't see many headers.... you might want to put some headers in as google adds extra emphisis in keywords in the header

Would it be an idea to stick txt in headers and then use CSS to resize them? will i get penalized for this?

Cheers for that!

Yes, that's a good idea, and no, you won't be punished.

As a wine drinker (and occasional buyer) in Ireland, I have a few issues/suggestions about this site:

I assume because of how heavy wine is that you are marketing almost exclusively to Ireland. Why the faint mention of that on the home page. I would have to study the page to know that and if you are targeting Ireland and in the serps you probably wont rank well.

If I wanted a bottle of white wine where would I start? I find the menu confusing. I always find it strange when a site sells wine or some other single product and you have to go through a couple clicks until you get to the product (i.e. catalogue, special wines, etc.)
Your White Wines - Red Wines - Rose Wines should be within one click (and by country if you liked as a seperate button).

I would also have some special deals of popular product on your first page so visitors get an idea on your pricing right away.

Deeper in -- Are most of your white and reds 100 Euro per bottle -- Is that a Case -- Is it for 6??? That should be much clearer. Most users will not associate More Info with how many bottles it is. Why put 100 Euro and not "8.00 in case quantity". Which looks cheaper to you even though its the same thing?

I like the header but it has a map of the world in the background - Do you ship worldwide?? I don't see a Shipping Options link or anything like that so I can't check. Do you deliver yourself or is the bottle/bottles mailed to me? You have some delivery info in your home page but i have to scroll down quite a bit (and I have a large monitor). This is important imformation and I should have access to it when the screen loads (even if its a menu button)

**Im not trying to give you a hard time but I would be a possible customer and look at the site that way..As you prob. already know customer (and potential customer) feedback is huge and is essential for building a business. As the site is now, i can't say that I would place an order. But on the plus side you have a ton of info in your site - its just made difficult for the potential customer to find it. The front page should grab me not confuse me.

If you make any changes and are looking for more feedback feel free to repost in this same thread.
