Smile http://www.kapuni.com

I would like comments on the SEO of my site please. We provide world wide hotel reservations.

For some reason, I do not appear to rank in the top 1000 for my main keyword. The site has been indexed fully and has 1,600 backlinks showing at the moment. I am expecting PR to jump to 6 once the next update is complete.

I can't understand why we do not rank at all. The keyword is very competitive, but looking at the top 1,000, our site has more prominence and content.

Any ideas would be much appreciated as I am not seeing any SERP movement at all.

Regards,

Martin

You do have lots of content. I can't see all of your backlinks but it looks like most of them are from just a couple of sites. IMO big linkage from one site doesn't help as much as it used to. I'd get backlinks from many more sites.

I think I've got backlinks from roughly 30 sites in total, including Yahoo directory and Jayde. It's just that Google doesnt pick them all up. Thats the problem.

Would that make a difference to SERP anyway? It's SERP Im worried about, I dont rank at all. Traffic from Google is non-existent. :/

I would look hard at the backlinks from the higher ranked competitors, and try and get dramatically more diversity in your backlinks. I looked at the first couple of pages in backlinks under link:www.yoursite.com and most of the backlinks came from one advertising source. There is no themed relevancy there.

I have asked for links from a lot of sites, I've had little interest because we have no pagerank on the links page at the moment. Hopefully it will change to a 5 at the next update which may encourage more people to link.

Is that why my SERPs are bad then? Link diversity?

I'd get into as many directories as I could for now.

I'd hit hospitality themed sites as much as possible. You're content alone should get you links from some.
