Sorry Flex but I think that the overall design of your blog is a bit on the gaudy side for my liking.

Maybe you are limited by the template design. I know that you are in Wordpress unless you want pay to change the CSS code for example.

I don't know who your target audience is but it would appear that you are aiming at roughly the 15-20 year old age group.

Generally your article for the 18th June is rather naff with phrases like 'here's a killer piece of news' and 'the key thing to observe is naturally the coolness factor'.

If its a bit of publicity you are after then you've got it but whether anyone will take you serously enough is another matter. Maybe you have a great product, I don't know but I wasn't encouraged to look any further.

I hope this helps -MD.

realityhack disagrees: "...rather naff with phrases like..." Personalized and excited language is fine for older audiances
when used appropriately. Lots of engineers are excited about new things an what they do. Also, some
tech is all about being cool for marketing.

Just my opinion, but it seems a little boring. Maybe a three column with more information on the sides would draw the readers attention to your content and different articles.

Your link text color is too dark for the background.

Just total waste of time, in seeing your blog, too outdated, too old template with dark colors....just scrap it & try any other good design template.

I appreciate your opinion, but I'm afraid I can't agree with you. This is the way I felt appropriate to express myself at that particular point, and I don't think words like "coolness" are limited in their use to the 15-20 age group. I believe that there should be some space for informal approach as well.

Also, the focus of the post you are talking about does not involve a call to action. I was not promoting a product there, I was just sharing.

Regards

My fault. I should have specified I was talking about the visited link color. Once you visit a link the dark visited link color is way too dark for the background and would be difficult for many to read.

Why the dig about trying to be cool?

Sorry Reality, wasn't trying to have a dig, maybe I just have a weird sense of humour. I was actually just trying to get my head around your previous comment "Personalized and excited language is fine for older audiances when used appropriately. Lots of engineers are excited about new things an what they do. Also, some tech is all about being cool for marketing".

I think that generally you produce some truly great thought provoking comments, some of the best on this forum and I enjoy reading them, but that wasn't up to your usual standard I'm afraid.

MD

The information is great.
You did your best in presenting the content that ,you feel, is helpful to a lot of people.
However I feel the site looks informative without any exuberance in the look.
To be precise, the site is elementary in design and layout.
Perhaps you could shift your focus to a better layout of the blog that emphasizes on better colors and font.

Anyway, Good luck with your blog.

The design doesn't bother me like it seems to bother some of the other commenters. The most important item on a blog page should be content, unless the blog is about photography or something visual. So I don't mind the cool (as opposed to warm) colors.

The content seems a little bit of hype, flowery, and non-specific.

"Apparently, the opportunities for the Flex camp to distance themselves from the formerly fishy Flash (oh the lovely sample of alliteration) are becoming increasingly limited."

Just get to the point—clearly and concisely. Don't make the reader guess what you're talking about.

Well there is little there to comment on. Looks like a standard template to me. Overall its fairly clean and simple so thats good. But needs more content.

The overall look and feel should defiantly be brought up to date. But that's such an easy change with wordpress. The biggest problem you'll face from an SEO point of view is the sub-domain. If you want a serious shot at ranking for any competitive keywords you'll need to purchase a top level domain. After that we can start talking about how best to formulate an SEO strategy for your site.

Am I missing something? This is just a standard Wordpress template. You need to spend time and customise it properly. Put the time and effort in.
