HTML and W3C Validator ?????

I have a photography site www.samshortphotography.com and basically did most of my site on my own including the HTML pages. Coming here and reading all the posts I realize how little I know but I would love some feedback on my HTML page as when I put it through the W3C validator it came up with something like 179 errors and seems not to be happy with any changes I make. Like it did not like my DOCTYPE so after visiting other sites I just eliminated. Also some keywords I have work real well but not my fine art photography...google just throws me in the back.

First, let me say that you have a very nice site, and the artwork is extremely beautiful. Unfortunately, in terms of ranking well in search engines, the site is sadly lacking. The biggest problem I see is that you don't have enough text related to your keywords on any of the pages. If a page is mostly graphic, search engines don't have much to go on. In addition, you might want to consider targeting 2-word or 3-word keyword phrases, rather than the 1-word phrases you are aiming for. It will be easier to rank well that way. I suggest you go to Webby's site and take a look at his excellent tutorial. You need to start with the basics to get your site to rank well. But again, the site and the artwork is superb!

Thank you for taking the time to review my site and the compliment on the work. This really what I needed as I do most of my own pages with the graphics and text and as for HTML have used other sites as a guide but really don't know that much. I went to Webby's tutorial and thanks for that as there is a lot of good information there. Being a photography site graphics are essential. I see on some of my competetors sites who have good ranking some have little or no text on various pages so this confuses me. However I will follow your advice and see what happens.
